When I was 23 I moved to Alaska by myself, $200 to my name and got hired as a sea kayak guide despite basically no experience kayaking. All because I wanted to live on the ocean and be in Alaska. For my adult life this has been my pattern; how could I create the life I wanted? How could I get paid to do the things I wanted to experience? How could I create a life that I loved? All while making an impact on others' lives.

I wanted to push myself, see what I could accomplish and do good while doing it. From guiding in Alaska and educating people about the incredible ecosystem, to becoming an Outward Bound and NOLS instructor to create the next generation of leaders. To getting a master's and becoming a classroom science teacher and ultimately starting my first business (as a ceramic artist). The pivots from the outside all seemed random (especially to my parents) but the truth that held through all of it was 1. I was an educator, 2. I wanted to make a difference in the world, 3. I wanted to experience life, even if it meant learning from failures and setbacks.

Designing, building and launching Mapphouse has held those same truths and it feels like a culmination of everything I have done. And let me just tell you, each day that I sit down with my clients I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I get to learn each day, I get to help other business owners create the impact they are meant to have, and I still get to show up for my daughter.
